Gerardus Hendriks was a painter specialised in landscapes featuring water as a prominent motif, including river scenes and seascapes, but also winter scenes on the ice. He also painted rural scenes with livestock and figures, and is known to have produced several still lifes. Apart from the fact that he lived and worked in Rotterdam in the years 1843-1859, little else is known about Hendriks's life. He occasionally also signed 'A. Christ'. The Rijksmuseum Twenthe in Enschede owns work by his hand.
